There are certain times of the year when business is slow, and typically, the summer is one of those times.
You never want to lose that key momentum. Keep busy by focusing your attention inward to areas that could use some adjusting or upgrades. Use this time to review every aspect of your business.

You never want to lose that key momentum. Keep busy by focusing your attention inward to areas that could use some adjusting or upgrades. Use this time to review every aspect of your business.

Here, we lay out 8 points that will help you get started:

Company Mission – Take time to re-evaluate your company’s mission and determine what you feel are its core principles. Are you and the staff holding true to them? One of the best ways to keep all of your stakeholders on the same page is to constantly remind each other what the company stands for.

New Trends – Take time to educate yourself on the newest trends in business and in your industry. What new businesses have recently emerged?  What do they have in common?  Can you take advantage of this knowledge?  What other trends are out there that can help your business move forward?

Network Internally and Externally – Make it a priority to network with others in your field. Join networking groups, keep in touch through social networking, have an ‘old fashioned’ networking meeting over coffee or lunch. This can be a very productive way to educate yourself and potentially acquire new business.

Study your Profits and Losses – When was the last time you studied your company finances? Have you calculated your gains and losses? Are you comparing lender rates online using a platform like Sambla to ensure the lowest interest rates on your long term debt obligations? Focusing on your ROI will help you determine if you are using your resources properly and budgeting for the biggest profit. Perhaps you can find a less expensive way to operate within your company.

Reinvent & Envision – Create new products/services or reconfigure old ones. Brainstorm, hold meetings and discuss ways to enhance your business and your client’s business, as well.

Sell – Regardless of the time of year, keep selling.  Bring new ideas to the table.  Promote your company.  Make businesses aware of your products and services and keep adding to your promotional database.

Research the Competition – A bit of competition is good for everyone.  Study your competitors.  It does not hurt to see what they are ‘bringing to the table’.

Time Management – Take note of how time is being utilized. Are the daily routines actually serving the company or do you need to make some adjustments so the day runs more efficiently?

Remember that your business can always improve. Keep your ideas fresh.  Keep your company moving forward. Keep the momentum going!
